Designed for Women Who Are:
- Successful on paper, but something doesn’t feel quite right anymore
- Accomplished, yet often overlooked or under-recognized for their impact
- Smart and capable, but not always as confident as their competence deserves
- Interviewing or considering new roles, but not fully prepared to communicate their experience and impact in a compelling way
- Carrying heavy workloads or stress, and starting to feel the effects of burnout
- Building meaningful lives, and wondering how career, personal priorities, well-being, and the life they want to build fit together
The Problem
- Most people pursue roles that are available in job postings, or look around to see what sounds impressive, instead of starting by reflecting on what is really important and right for them.
- Career paths at companies are often unclear, with unspoken rules about how to get ahead, making it hard to advocate for yourself or move in the direction you want.
- You have been taught that hard work, multitasking, and getting the A+ is what leads to success, but that’s not what moves careers forward or creates a full life.
Women today are more educated, capable, and ambitious than ever, yet most were never taught the most important skills at this stage of work and life: how to clarify direction, communicate their value and story, set boundaries, and confidently ask for what they want.
These skills are not taught in school, not even in Master’s programs. So we do what we’ve always done: we work harder, prove ourselves, take on more, second-guess whether we’re making the right choices, and don’t position ourselves for what’s next.
Why I Built This Course
I faced many of these challenges, navigating my career through trial and error while learning how to find direction, advocate for myself, and manage my boundaries so I could also build a fulfilling personal life.
Through experience, leadership, and a lot of learning from mistakes, I eventually discovered the core skills that move careers forward.
I built this course so women could access these tools far earlier in their careers than I did:
- Knowing what you want and why
- Learning how to articulate your career story, ask for what you want, and influence decisions
- Boundary management
This course brings these elements together, supported by a community of women who are practicing, applying, and growing with you.
My promise is that you will leave with more direction, influential communication skills, and a way of owning your career that supports both your ambition and your life outside of work.
By the End of This Course, You Will:
- Have a strong sense of direction for your next chapter
- Have a “Career Story” that positions you for new opportunities
- Have practice communicating your boundaries and asking for what you want in real-world scenarios
- Have a network of like-minded women to support you, encourage you, and help you with your career in the future

Amy’s Story

I built a successful career in New York City, doing all the things I thought I was supposed to do: working hard, delivering results, and continuing to move forward.
But at a certain point, I found myself feeling stuck.
From the outside, everything looked right. Inside, I wasn’t sure what I wanted next.
I realized I had been following the path in front of me without ever stepping back to ask whether it felt true to my values or the life I wanted.
So I started to look for answers.
I read, learned from others, and spent time reflecting on my own situation.
As I began to understand myself, new opportunities opened up within my company, and I decided to pursue an MBA, and that path eventually led me to teaching a class at Cornell University.
Along the way, I also learned how to communicate and advocate for myself.
Earlier in my career, I had been passed over for a promotion because leadership didn’t understand the impact of my work. That moment changed me. I began applying the communication and influence skills I developed in sales to advocate for myself and my teams.
Later, as I stepped into executive leadership, I faced another challenge: boundaries.
For years, I said yes to everything, believing that constant availability was the key to success. But when I learned to set clear, thoughtful boundaries and focus on what was most important, something surprising happened. I became more effective, more strategic, and was promoted more, not less.
Looking back, I can see the skills that made the biggest difference in my career: getting clear on what I wanted, communicating my value, and setting boundaries that supported my life.
These were things I had to figure out on my own, over many years.
They were never formally taught in school.
That’s why I created Own Your Career.
It’s a structured course and supportive community designed to help women get clear on what they want next, confidently communicate their value, and build careers that support the life they want to live.
